Outside of Europe
Students can study abroad as part of the Erasmus + program. They can choose from a wide range of European countries.

Although you are already studying abroad here in the Czech republic, nothing is stopping you from venturing to for a semester or two to other study destinations among the vast European and global network - in fact, we encourage and support your doing so.

Consult us
Getting a grip on the myriad of options is not as easy. Talk to us. First consult your study advisers, who are happy to assist in your planning and then feel free to contact the Department exchange and internship coordinator Mgr. Anežka Konvalinová.

Give yourself a head start
Deadlines for various exchange and scholarship programs come and go, overlap and usually sneak up on you very quickly. So if you're planning on studying abroad, consult ahead of time, improve your chances, and plan your studies around the exchange for smooth progress.

Plan your studies
Although students often fear having to interrupt their studies during an exchange abroad, this need not be the case with some planning ahead. Talk to your study advisers and plan enrollment in compulsory courses ahead of time to avoid overlaps and plan for prerequisites.

Choose a university and courses
Research the university of your choosing and gain the most out of your exchange studies. Bring home not just credits but also unique expertise.

Choose the right funding option

Sign the paperwork and roll out.
Our department coordinator and the Center for international cooperation will gladly assist you. Keep in mind the signature is binding and withdrawal after the agreement has been signed, although possible, permanently and negatively influences your Erasmus and exchange status.

Transfer the credits you've gained

Internships through the Erasmus+ programme and General Internships at Department of International Relations and European Studies
An excellent way to gain new practical experience and improve your future employment opportunities is to do an internship abroad. Under the Erasmus+ programme, students at all levels of study can go to any EU country. Internships are seen as part of your studies and students receive credit for them.
It is important to be informed about all the options and financing methods. We will be more than happy to help you.

Erasmus+ Internships
Within the Erasmus+ exchange programme, Masaryk University students have the opportunity to complete a professional internship in European countries lasting from 2 to 12 months. This opportunity is not limited to students only, and graduates can also use this opportunity to develop their professional skills and gain new experience.
Students have the freedom to choose the foreign institution they want to do their traineeship with, without the need for an inter-institutional agreement between Masaryk University and the target institution. They can draw inspiration from the stories and experiences of students who have already successfully participated in the Erasmus+ programme.
Masaryk University financially supports students on practical placements with between EUR 630 and EUR 750 per month, depending on the placement destination.

General Internships
All internships, whether through Erasmus+ or independently of the programme, must be in line with the subject they are studying and must be related to international relations and European studies.
All internships at Masaryk University are credit-bearing. For every 25 hours worked, the student receives 1 ECTS credit. This ensures that internships not only provide practical experience, but are also a solid part of students' academic growth.
