Evropa ve světové ekonomice

Autoři: Mgr. et Mgr. Oldřich Krpec, Ph.D., Mgr. Vladan Hodulák, Ph.D.

The publication attempts to interpret the position of European economy in international economic and political relations. The historical perspective aims to reflect the complicated process of formation of Europe’s unique position from the Middle Ages to Industrial Revolution,  the dramatic decline of its dominant position in the first half of 20th century and the current effort to find an appropriate position in the contemporary world. Based on the discussion of influential authors, the publication records the fascinating story of the onsent and decline of major European political entities with special attention to their non-European rivals and partners. The authors are convinced that only an honest attempt to reflect the mutual relation between social and political institutions on one side and the economic incentives and economic flows on the other side might lead to deeper understanding not only of the historical roots of current events but also the interests and ambitions of particular actors in Europe as well as in the world. The chosen line of interpretation thus tries to balance the attention paid to the institutional and technical innovations, unique historical circumstances and conditions and to the political power, conflicts and wars.
