The members of the Department are engaged in publishing and research activities, thanks to which the Department has gained a considerable reputation not only in the Czech Republic but also in the Central European area.

Regarding the specialization of the Department, it is possible to talk about a wider thematic spectrum. This spectrum consists mostly of comparative studies of Central and Western Europe and their links to integration processes, issues of political and institutional development of the European Union, EC / EU enlargement, US foreign policy, European political parties, strategic and security studies, international relations theory, integration theories, energy security issues. The scientific profile of the Department of International Relations and European Studies is reflected in the themes of published scientific monographs, accessible to the general and professional public.
