In early October 2024, Monika Brusenbauch Meislová had the pleasure of spending several intellectually stimulating days at Sorbonne Nouvelle University in Paris. Invited by the Centre for Research on the English-Speaking World , she delivered a talk on 1 October 2024, sharing her research on the discursive "othering" strategies used by the British government vis-á-vis the EU in the post-Brexit era. Her talk, which delved into the nuanced ways the UK constructs the EU as an "Other," attracted a highly engaged audience, sparking a dynamic and thought-provoking discussion. Beyond the lecture itself, Monika took part in multiple academic discussions, was thrilled by the opportunity to exchange ideas with fellow scholars and appreciated the warm hospitality extended to her by the university.
