Ivo Pospíšil at the international conference "Freezing, management and forfeiture of Russian assets to compensate Ukraine"
On 29 and 30 August 2023, Ivo Pospíšil took part in a conference organized by the CEELI Institute in Prague. The topic was the freezing and potential confiscation of assets of Russian citizens under EU sanctions mechanisms. The conference, titled "Freezing, management, and forfeiture of Russian assets to compensate Ukraine", saw participation from experts not only from the Czech Republic but also from Ukraine and European institutions directly involved in this issue. Ivo Pospíšil delivered a talk on the international and constitutional law facets, as well as the role of the judiciary in reviewing decisions to list persons for sanctions, freeze their assets, and limit their business activities in the Czech Republic and other EU Member States.
