Zinaida Bechná's at the 2025 Aleksanteri Conference

On October 21–25, 2025, Dr Zinaida Bechná participated in the 2025 International Aleksanteri Conference organised by the University of Helsinki. Dr Bechná presented two papers co-authored with members of the CENTREPEACE project, which she leads.
  1. "The Geometry of In-Betweenness: EU Engagement Without Recognition in the De Facto States of Abkhazia, South Ossetia, and Transnistria" – A paper focused on strategic and "patron-client" relations and opportunities for the EU engagement in the context of the quasi-states of Transnistria, Abkhazia, and South Ossetia.
  2. "The Clash of Diffusions: The Interplay of Domestic and International Factors in Political Changes of Eastern Partnership Countries" – A paper presented as part of a roundtable focused on norm diffusion and the interaction of domestic and international factors in political changes within Eastern Partnership countries.
The Aleksanteri Conference will be back in 2026 with the main topic "Mapping Security in Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia. Fault lines and frontlines" and will be organised within the CETREPEACE project.
