Vratislav Havlík on the new European regions
Vratislav Havlík published an article in the latest issue of the prestigious journal European Planning Studies entitled The Europeanization of territoriality and its limits: the territorial dimension of EU cohesion policy and its varying implementation. In his text, he points out that the trend towards metropolitan cities, widely supported by the European Union, is taking place with varying intensity in the Member States. While some countries have established 'new regions', others have been reluctant. The article argues that regions may veto the process of Europeanisation in order, among other things, to protect their territoriality.
