25 Apr 2025

As part of the Erasmus+ teaching mobility program, Vladimir Vučković recently served as a guest lecturer at the University of Bologna’s Department of Political and Social Sciences. From April 14 to 18, 2025, he engaged students and faculty with a series of lectures exploring key political and geopolitical developments affecting Europe and its neighborhood.

The lecture series was organized in collaboration with Associate Professor Elena Baracani, holder of the Jean Monnet Chair on The EU as a Global Actor (https://site.unibo.it/eugloba/en/project ).

Vučković’s sessions were met with strong interest from students and covered a diverse range of timely topics, including:

  • The current status and future prospects of the European Union’s enlargement process;
  • Institutional challenges and political crises within the EU;
  • The emergence and impact of populist authoritarianism in Central and Southeastern Europe;
  • The evolving geopolitical landscape in the Western Balkans, with a focus on the role of external powers.

These thought-provoking lectures provided students with in-depth analysis and encouraged dynamic classroom discussions on contemporary European affairs. Vučković’s visit not only contributed to the internationalization of the Masaryk University’s curriculum but also offered valuable perspectives on the complex political realities shaping the EU and its neighbors today.
