Petr Marek has been awarded the Rising Star Award by the Swedish Society for Geography and Anthropology

For his article "Reproduction of the identity of a region: perceptual regions based on formal and functional regions and their boundaries" which explores the perception and creation of regional identities, Petr received the SSAG Rising Star Award from the Swedish Society for Geography and Anthropology (SSAG).

The article deals with the reproduction of regions, specifically Bohemia and Moravia in their mutual borderlands. It develops Paasi's theory of the institutionalization of regions and discusses the basis on which people construct regions and borders in their minds.
