Petr Kaniok and Vít Hloušek on the Czech position in the War in Ukraine

1 Oct 2022

Petr and Vít enjoyed a real Indian summer in the Bulgarian city of Blagoevgrad at the conference held at the American University. They analysed the stances of the Czech political parties on foreign politics as expressed by party manifestos for the 2021 parliamentary elections. Further, they elaborated on the parties' positions toward the Russian aggression against Ukraine. Their research showed that current opposition and non-parliamentary parties are far less willing to engage in the conflict. They argued that the long-term consensus based on active foreign policy framed mainly by the EU framework is more fragile than it used to be before 2017.
