Monika Brusenbauch Meislová Awarded Prestigious Jean Monnet Chair Grant
Monika Brusenbauch Meislová, our renowned scholar in European studies, has been awarded the highly coveted Jean Monnet Chair , a prestigious grant funded by the European Commission. Starting on 1 January 2025, this three-year project will focus on EU digital diplomacy.
The Jean Monnet Chair is designed to support teaching and research on topics related to the European Union. It is awarded to top-tier academics who demonstrate leadership and expertise in EU studies, enabling them to deepen their work and extend the reach of EU-focused education. Recipients of the Jean Monnet Chair are recognized for their ability to significantly contribute to understanding the EU’s role in global politics, economics, law, culture, and a variety of other disciplines.
As part of this prestigious award, chairholders receive funding to create new academic courses, enhance existing ones, conduct innovative research, and engage with a wider audience through lectures, conferences, and public discussions. The aim is to strengthen knowledge about the EU, not only in academia but also in the broader public discourse.
As part of the project, new courses on EU digital diplomacy will be developed within the Department for students at all levels of study, and several existing courses will be upgraded. Additionally, the project will support the emerging alumni mentoring programme in European Studies, implement new research activities, organise conferences, and host a series of specialised lectures.
Our students can look forward to many exciting opportunities!
