Krpec on Chinese Economic Expansion

11 Sep 2021

Together with Prof. Carol Wise (University of Southern California), Oldřich Krpec published a text examining the failure of China's economic expansion into the Central European region. It confirmed that the Central European states are firmly integrated into Western Europe, and no major response was needed from the European Union, as existing policies - the single market, cohesion policy, competition policy, public procurement, and state aid regulation - proved sufficiently resilient.

The study was published in New Political Economy and was conducted as part of a larger project led by Prof. Saori N. Katada (University of Southern California) and Prof. Sarah Eaton (Humboldt University), which focused on China from the perspective of examining international policy diffusion. Here.

One of the outputs of the study is a list of projects with Chinese involvement in Hungary, Poland, and the Czech Republic and selected Western Balkan countries, available here.
