Hedvika Koďousková and Petr Ocelík are co-authors of a new article in the Resources Policy journal by Elsevier. In the text, Hedvika and Petr, along with the leading author and our Energy Policy Studies alumna, Vladimíra Ličková, focus on India´s declared climate goals as compared to their practical implementation.
India pledges climate action on the global stage but remains firmly locked into coal at home. So, what are the country-specific meanings of coal in India? This study reveals a stable official discourse centred on a new frame—good sector governance—that presents reforms and efficiency as progress, yet in practice allows only incremental change and challenges alternative energy futures.
