Ringlerová on Citizen´s Support for the EU
Zuzana Ringlerova has published an article entitled "Affective attachment to the EU: Questioning the importance of childhood socialization" in European Union Politics, a prestigious journal in the field of European Studies. In this article, Zuzana Ringlerova examines the sources of mass public support for the European Union. How important is early life political socialization for the development of support for the EU?
In contrast to the existing literature, which emphasizes the role of early life political socialization in the development of political support, this paper shows that early life political socialization is not a key factor in the formation of public support for the EU. The study implies that European citizens form their support for the EU through experience with the EU in adulthood.
