Vladimír Bízik is spending the week of May 4-8 at Bilkent University in Ankara, Turkey, delivering an intensive guest lecturing programme.
Across 8 different lectures for students of the Department of International Relations, the Department of Political Science, and the Department of History (including a graduate seminar) he is covering a wide range of topics such as the historical evolution of Turkish foreign policy and the role of ideas and ideology in shaping it; the Tanzimat reform period and the roots of republicanism in Ottoman political history and philosophy; and also the period of the Prague Spring of 1968, the Warsaw Pact invasion of Czechoslovakia, and the era of normalisation that followed.
