Jan Kotýnek Krotký together with co-author Karolina Borońska-Hryniewiecka, he examined how members of national parliaments and the European Parliament discuss civic participation, and how their attitudes reflect their party's ideology, approach to the EU, etc.
Across arenas and party families, a hashtag#consultative discourse clearly dominates: politicians tend to welcome citizen participation—as long as it remains advisory and does not redistribute decision-making power. This points, in practice, toward a “consultative Union.”
