Tomáš Vlček marked a noteworthy publishing success by co-authoring an article titled „Russia’s energy relations in Southeastern Europe: an analysis of motives in Bulgaria and Greece“. Tomáš published the article along with Martin Jirušek from International Institute of Political Science of Masaryk University and James Henderson from Oxford Institute for Energy Studies. The text was published in the Post-Soviet Affairs, a journal indexed in the Web of Science database.
The paper aims to provide an objective, evidence-based analysis of Russian activities in the natural gas and oil sectors of Greece and Bulgaria to establish whether its actions have been implicitly or explicitly politicized and have served to strengthen Russian influence in the region. Formative events as, for instance, negotiations on the South Stream project or the Russia´s activities within the Greek economic crisis were also taken into account.
