An expert seminar titled „Can we complete gas market integration in the Danube Region by 2020?“ held on December 5 at the Permanent Representation of Hungary in Brussels successfully concluded a year-long research project examining challenges and opportunities of natural gas market integration in the Danube Region. The research project resulted in a study authored by Martin Jirušek and Tomáš Vlček.
The aim of this study was to provide a sober, evidence-based analysis of the contemporary issues that shape the environment within the natural gas sector in the Danube region. The study further aimed to formulate policy recommendations that may help achieve successful market integration in the future. The study was supplemented by a comparison of the natural gas sector to the oil sector to provide readers with a complex picture of hydrocarbon industry in the region.
At the seminar, Martin Jirušek presented his view on the future development of the gas market integration and obstacles that need to be overcome in order to make the integration happen.
