8th Summer School on Energy Security is now open for applications
The Department of International Relations and European Studies, Faculty of Social Studies, Masaryk University together with our partners is happy to announce the summer school on energy security titled Energy in Europe: Sources and Politics. The eighth year of this summer school, which already earned an excellent international reputation, takes place in the UNESCO World Heritage City of Telč and will be dealing with highly topical issue of electricity transmission, oil pipelines and gas infrastructure in Europe.
The summer school will be held on August 3-10, 2019 and will host various foreign and Czech energy security experts. Among the lecturers there are James Henderson (Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, UK), Václav Bartuška (Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Czech Republic), Predrag Grujicic (Energy Community), Olga Bogdanova (Ministry of Economic Affairs, Latvia), Michael Kranhold (German Transmission System Operator 50Hertz Transmission GmbH), András Deák (Hungarian Academy of Sciences) and many others.
The summer school will last six full working days, each dedicated to a specific topic within the issue. The core of the program comprises of issue-related lectures and practice-oriented workshop focusing on policy repercussions, major energy producers, hydrocarbons development, electricity production and transportation etc. The program also includes field trips to the Temelín Nuclear Power Plant and Kořensko Hydro Power Plant.
Students can earn 4 ECTS credits if all the requirements are fulfilled. The deadline for applications is April 30, 2019 (February 28, 2019 for early birds).
